Coaching versus Counseling. What is the difference between Coaching and Counseling?

 

Counseling is past tense based where the counselor and the Customer focus on the past and how that is affecting their current reality. Often the session is assisted with the help of drugs and hypnotherapy, to try and achieve a quick fix.

 

Coaching accepts the past for what it is and the fact that it cannot be changed. Coaching believes in the power of self-belief and being able to take responsibility and change the future.

 

Coaching is not a quick fix. Coaches require that the Customer looks inwardly for answers and personal achievement of steps towards growth. It is a process of negating negative thoughts and eliminating destructive behavioural patterns.
